Lane Cove Week in Review 29th July to 4th August 2018

Welcome to our week in review.

Smoke

On Tuesday and Wednesday, smoke from a bushfire, burning in Holsworthy, drifted across Sydney and due to the cooler mornings, settled across Northern Sydney and the CBD. Hazard Reduction burnings also took place this week which also contributed to poor air quality.

Public Transport

At Budget time, the NSW State Government announced several initiatives to alleviate public transport issues across Sydney. More bus services were promised for Lane Cove (and in particular more 253 buses).  In the Cove asked Transport for NSW to advise when the new bus services would be operating. A Transport for NSW Spokesperson told ITC:

“Details are still being finalised and a date for the introduction of these services has not yet been confirmed”

Let’s hope the new buses are in place before the Epping to Chatswood Train Line temporarily closes on 1 October 2018. Read More Here.

Meteor

Around 6:30 pm on Saturday 4th August several Lane Cove residents saw a bright roundish white ball travelling across the sky.  It turned out to be a meteor.

It was not a UFO. Although according to the gentleman in a video clip released this week by the ABC, UFO’s were seen in Lane Cove.

Voice of the People: Is There Life on Other Planets?

Do you think there's life on other planets? 👽You have to see this #Throwback to 1962 when Four Corners went to the streets to ask this very question. #RetroFocus
