The Wondrous Wizard of Oz is coming to Lane Cove

Each year the Lane Cove Theatre Company stages a children’s production featuring Lane Cove’s young performers.  This year they will be performing The Wondorous Wizard of Oz.  The audience will be treated to a classic tale with a modern musical twist by Lane Cove’s Young Performers.  The season starts on 8th November and finishes on 23rd November 2019. Make sure you book early as the kids performance plays are popular.

Exciting Modern Adaptation

This year is the 80th anniversary of the release of the classic Wizard of Oz film. Bring along the kids and wander down the Yellow Brick Road as Lane Cove Theatre Company presents The Wondrous Wizard of Oz in a never-before-seen, toe-tapping adaptation by Cameron Farnham. Set against a backdrop of classic songs by such beloved artists as ABBA, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, and, of course, Judy Garland, this production promises fun for all the family, with Dorothy Gale, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, little Toto, and many more, brought vividly to life exclusively on the Lane Cove stage.

When a raging tornado hits the sleepy little farming community of Lâne Cové, dreamer Dorothy Gale is transported to a fantastical world of Munchkins, Winkies, and Wicked Witches. Her journey to the Emerald City and back home is one of singing, dancing, tears, and laughter, based on a story that has captivated audiences for almost 120 years. Watch as Dorothy and friends battle the forces of evil, and rest assured that kindness, love, family, and community will ultimately win the day.

Talented Performers

The Wondrous Wizard of Oz boasts a large cast of talented adult, teenage, and child performers from the Lane Cove area and all over Sydney. It’s the classic story we all know and love, but full of twists and turns; you’ve never seen Oz like this before – and showing only in Lane Cove for a limited run.

Directed by Cameron Farnham and assistant director Sarah Edwards with choreography by Emma Ashley, The Wondrous Wizard of Oz stars  Madeleine Biddle as Dorothy; Ben Walsh as the Scarecrow; Alexei Belchenko as the Lion; Kate Anthonisz as the Tin Man; Deborah George as The Wicked Witch, Emer Fadden as Aunty Em, Amber Johnson as Glinda and a host of young Munchkins.
