Meet Ray the New Riverview Butcher

We now have another independent butcher in Lane Cove!  Ray has set up shop in the Riverview Shops (also known as York’s Corner).

You will notice a big difference when you walk into the Riverview Butcher.  The shop has been given a makeover and its light and bright and the counter is lower so it’s easier to talk to Ray and his staff.

Who is Ray the Riverview Butcher?

Raymond Price is a second-generation butcher, from a family that managed Homebush Abattoir. He started his apprenticeship in North Sydney at the age of 16. Spending five years under the watchful eye of master butcher Neil Aryes.

After two years’ experience as a supervisor for Primo Smallgoods, Raymond started his first retail shop, Ray the Butcher at Crows Nest in 2003. By 2005 he had won the Best Retail Butcher in the Lower North Shore. With the business growing a second location was added, opening Ray the Butcher Kirribilli/Milson’s Point.

Ray was one of the first retailers to sell Wagyu Beef in Australia.

Ray loved Kirribilli and Milson’s Point and had some dedicated customers, however the demographics in Kirribilli and Milson’s Point started to change.  With the advent of AirBnB many downsizers would rent out their properties and travel or go to their holiday home. AirBnB renters are more au fait with Ubereats.  When Ray’s lease came up for renewal he thought it was a good time to look at some other options in the meat industry.

Ray worked in meat wholesaling for a couple of years, visiting nearly every butcher in Sydney. This gave Ray an opportunity to see the best butchers around and that inspired him to get back into retail and put some of their best ideas into practice.

The Perfect Location

After searching for the ideal butcher shop, he found the butcher shop at Riverview and he knew he had found the right place to open.  He loves being a local butcher and getting to know the locals.

Twenty Snag Flavours

If you love a BBQ, you will be pleased to know that Ray has twenty different snag flavours you can choose from.

Most Popular So Far..

Since opening in Riverview, his most popular meat cuts have been the Argentinean Beef Ribs, Butterfly Chicken, Slow Roasted Lamb Shoulder, BBQ Sriracha Wings and Vietnamese Pork Rolls (pictured below).

Forty Meals in Forty Minutes

Ray knows that we all live busy lives and convenience is key.  He has a repertoire of forty meals you can make in forty minutes.  He has them on rotation but if you like a particular meal just let him know.  ITC tried the Moroccan Lamb meal and it was very easy to make.
