Singer Songwriter Alisha.K Love of Music Started at Lane Cove Public School

Alisha.K is a singer-songwriter whose love for music all started at the Lane Cove Public School.

Alisha.K was taught guitar by Gino Pengue and Jonathan Bolton. Gino is still involved in teaching Lane Cove Public School students.  Both of them have played a very strong part in her musical career.  She was a member of the Lane Cove Public School Guitar Ensemble.

Alisha.K moved to Melbourne in 2020 to study Jazz guitar. After graduating, she stayed in Melbourne due to the large network of musicians she met during her degree and the strong connections she made.

“Music is my number one passion and what I want to be doing for my whole life,” Alisha K said.

I play live shows with my band frequently in Melbourne and am in the midst of my first-ever tour! We’ve had great success in Melbourne, Beechworth, Canberra and I will be performing in Sydney on 24 June 2023,”, Alisha K also said.

We asked Alisha.K some questions about her music career.

How Would You Describe Your Musical Style?

Though I studied jazz guitar, I now call myself a pop/indie/blues singer-songwriter. My music is brutally honest, raw and purely captivating. Live, I bring all facets of myself to the stage: vulnerable and strong, melancholic and energetic, serious and witty.

I play live with a band and work with professional producers to build the tracks to incorporate depth in harmony and sound, yet every song can be stripped back to guitar and vocals and hit just as hard.

What Inspires You to Make Music?

Watching others create and play music inspires me to write. I find music to be the only way to truly understand my emotions and allow them the space to breathe. I am heavily inspired by artists such as John Mayer, Lizzy McAlpine and Fleetwood Mac.

How Often Do You Visit Lane Cove?

I grew up in Lane Cove.  Even though I have moved to Melbourne,  my family still lives in Lane Cove, so I am back frequently.

When You Are Back In Lane Cove, What Do You Like to Do??

Lane Cove has morphed a lot over the years, but it has always had wonderful restaurants and parks, and I like to visit them.

What’s Your Favourite Lane Cove Coffee Shop

My go-to place is Qld Quarter Cafe on Longueville Road.

Tell Us About Your Sydney Gig

My next gig is at The Chippo Hotel on 24 June 2023. This is the final show of my current tour. I will be promoting my second album, “Between State Lines”, which is an eight-track album that tells a story about the tension between opposites, the fight of a conflicted individual and the battle of head vs heart.

The Chippo Hotel is an iconic venue in Sydney which celebrates live music and comedy.  It is located in the heart of Chippendale.  You can book tickets to the gig here.
