Summer Self Defence Boot Camp for High School Girls
Self-Defence Bootcamp for year 6 & 7’s
Philotimo Freestyle Jujitsu is hosting a Self-Defence Bootcamp over the January 2024 school holidays. The course is aimed at building skills and confidence in girls heading to high school… (and girls already in high school, of course).
The Self-Defence Bootcamp will focus on these key areas:
- How to Stay Safe on Public Transport
- How to Deal with Unwanted Approaches
- How to Effectively deal with bullies in real life and online
- Immediate, practical physical and mental self-defence skills
In a world where girls are increasingly objectified and sexualized younger and younger, it teaches girls strong boundaries and how to say NO to things they don’t want to do.
Philotimo Freestyle Jujitsu founder Sensi Rose told ITC it provides a safe space for girls to learn jujitsu while also learning social skills, anti-bullying, good manners, organisation, and communication skills in a fun and healthy environment that promotes healthy boundaries and positive life skills.
Learning self-defence is empowering and changes a women’s beliefs about what they are capable of and what they are entitled to. Most importantly, it gives a sense of mastery over their own bodies, which creates lasting change in a girl’s self-worth and how they feel about themselves.
Self-Defence Workshop – How to Book
Book for three full days of self-defence essentials with top black belt instructors $250
DATE – 9am – 3pm Monday 15 to Wednesday 17 January 2024

Educational
Sydney Speech Clinic Holiday Intensive Programs
Group sessions promote peer learning in an interactive, motivating and supportive group environment.
Our group programs are designed to supplement the learning a child is already doing (e.g. at school, at home, or in 1-on-1 speech pathology) by building on existing skills. Most importantly, these groups encourage the children in the group to learn from one another. We often find that children thrive in this group setting, and come out of the program feeling confident and empowered to apply the new skills that they have learnt. Group programs offer a reliable and affordable way of maximising your child’s exposure to learning.
All of our programs are evidence-based, and carefully planned and facilitated by qualified speech pathologists and/or occupational therapists.

At Kumon, we personalise each student’s program, right from the beginning. Students begin study at a level that allows them to build self-confidence from day one, and progress according to their ability rather than their age. Over time, our students develop the study habits, attitude and skills that will allow them to study advanced material confidently and independently.
Kumon has operated in Lane Cove for over 30 years, and is run by local mum (and ex-Kumon Student) Sheryl Lee. We are constantly adjusting our centre to ensure the safety of our students, staff and the local community. Families can study with us in person, online, or via correspondence – choose the system that suits your family best!
