AFTER SCHOOL CARE
The Blue Umbrella – Currambena OOSH
A little haven tucked away where kids run around barefoot, climb trees, play freely with whats around them, eat where they choose and are truly drivers in their own educational experiences.
The Blue Umbrella is a parent-run, not-for-profit Out Of School Hours service established in 2016 and run in the beautiful grounds of Currambena Pre-school and Primary. We offer after school care and vacation care to the families of the school and to the wider community. We have a license limit of 30 children in each session and an age range of 3 years upwards, this means we are just like a big family! We have a strong belief that their time is not an extension of the school day but that the children are absolutely free to do whatever their imaginations desire.
We have a dedicated space within the schools main building equipped with a small library and reading corner, enough craft supplies to satisfy the most creative of makers and a fully functioning kitchen. But our biggest resource is the glorious, natural environments within the grounds that allow the children’s curiosity and imagination to run wild and their spirits to soar. Sandpit, tree houses/cubbies, veggie and flower gardens, chickens free roaming, an awesome tunnel slide and a variety of terrains, all to keep their curious minds occupied and challenge without them even realising.
At The Blue Umbrella the children interact in mixed age groups with the ‘elders’ leading the way for the younger children. This enables everyone in the group to feel safe, accepted and most importantly have fun!

EDUCATION
Skill Samurai Lane Cove
Skill Samurai specialises in after-school coding classes for children aged 6-16. We focus on skills in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, 3D printing and more. Our programs make coding fun, easy to learn and are specifically designed to enhance the student’s problem-solving, teamwork and leadership skills! See our website for class timings and registration.
Learning with Confidence
We will be running practice exams, marked with comments, before the HSC. This is a final opportunity to refine all exam skills.
Kumon Lane Cove
At Kumon, we personalise each student’s program, right from the beginning. Students begin study at a level that allows them to build self-confidence from day one, and progress according to their ability rather than their age. Over time, our students develop the study habits, attitude and skills that will allow them to study advanced material confidently and independently.
Kumon has operated in Lane Cove for over 30 years, and is run by local mum (and ex-Kumon Student) Sheryl Lee. We are constantly adjusting our centre to ensure the safety of our students, staff and the local community. Families can study with us in person, online, or via correspondence – choose the system that suits your family best!
Find out more about the Kumon Method of Learning by watching our introductory video (kumonglobal.com/kumon-a-foundation-for-the-future/) or booking an Orientation Meeting directly with Sheryl at [email protected].
Uber Tutoring
Uber Tutoring offers tutoring for primary and secondary students by qualified educators with classroom teaching experience. We provide educational services that engage students in their learning to promote confidence and understanding. We understand that every child is different and tailor our programs to each individual to ensure they can learn in a way that is suitable to them. We believe in the importance of involving the student in their own learning and encourage this through our positive and motivating classes. At Uber tutoring, we ensure every student has a voice, is heard and receives the best support that we have to offer.
They provide:
Small Group Tutoring
These classes cater for 1 – 5 students in an intimate learning space to ensure they receive the attention they need.
Individualised Programs
Each child receives a tailored support to meet their learning requirements
Positive Learning Environments
We provide positive workspaces and energetic tutors to meet each child’s emotional needs.
HEALTH & SUPPORT
Sydney Speech Clinic
Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists are professionally trained to assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of developmental differences and ultimately aim to help individuals in their daily activities, relationships and communication skills.
Supporting these skills is often best achieved through group programs. Group sessions promote peer learning in an interactive, motivating and supportive group environment.
Our group programs are designed to supplement a child’s learning in other environments by building on existing skills and allowing for generalisation across situations. Most importantly, these groups encourage the children in the group to learn from one another. We often find that children thrive in this group setting, and emerge feeling more confident and empowered. Group programs offer a reliable and affordable way of maximising your child’s exposure to learning.
All programs are evidence-based, and carefully planned and facilitated by qualified speech pathologists and/or occupational therapists.

Luz Abilities
With a 15-year history, Luz All Abilities is a tailored one-on-one program for individuals with diverse needs. Shifting the focus from disability and concentrating our efforts on maximising their abilities.
Our doors are always open. We believe that every person has a light (luz means light in Portuguese) inside their hearts. We are not here to heal or fix anyone. We are here to create a world of possibilities, to take our Luz Ability students on a transformational journey full of new discoveries, to broaden and to contribute with the community around us.
We take the word “care” quite literally, as they all become part of our caring Luz All Abilities family. Our participants vary in age – from early childhood into their adulthood. We proudly become a part of their journey and see them transform to learn to see themselves and the world around them with different eyes.
Eye Test
It is a good idea to get your child’s eyes tested for start of the school term (particularly if you or your partner wear glasses). Eyes 4 You is the place to go.
Apple Dental
If you or your child is playing sport, make sure you invest in a Mouth Guard.
Did you know more than 5 million teeth are knocked out during sporting activities every year? What is even worse is that it’s estimated between 30% and 50% of these injuries could have been prevented or would have been less severe had a mouthguard been worn.
Find out more here about mouthguards from www.appledental.com.au
