Opened
Buckle Has Opened in Artarmon HQ
Buckle is named after Frank Buckle, a renowned first-grade cricketer who became a respected industrial architect responsible for designing the heritage Home HQ Artarmon Building.
The venue now houses Buckle Cafe Distillery, which opened on Tuesday, 22nd October. The 150-seater venue is inside a glass atrium alongside the heritage-listed Artarmon Home HQ site at 1 Frederick Street.
The cocktail bar and eatery will offer a menu featuring a mix of classic eats. For brunch, customers can choose from a Bacon and Egg Roll, Avocado On Toast, Corn Fritters, an Acai Bowl, and more.
From noon to dinner, the menu switches to a more hearty offering, including a Falafel Bowl, a Reuben sandwich, Tomato Penne Pasta, Rump Steak, and more.
Buckle has engaged James Peters—a young and passionate mixologist who’s worked in high-energy bars and premium cafes, including The Glasshouse Artarmon and Acre Artarmon—to create a cocktail list featuring standard favourites like the Buckle x Black Market Espresso Martini (Buckle Vodka, Black Market Cold Brew, Coffee Liqueur) and house exclusives such as the Spiced Honey Daiquiri (Spiced Black Rum, Honey, Lime).
A sister venue and bistro, Depot Brewery, is due to open its doors in late November.

Under New Management / Refurbished / Moved
KX Pilates Lane Cove studio has undergone new management with a new fitout and as such we would love to inform the beautiful locals of Lane Cove and surrounds.
We have a great introductory offer of 5 classes for $60 (valid for 2 weeks). If possible, please let me know how we can get the ball rolling for this and what next steps might be. Happy to send through collateral and captions if needed for the posts or work through with your team if there are certain requirements to be met.
Wades Pharmacy
Meet Sorya Pordeli, the new owner of Wade Pharmacy on Burns Bay Road (near Zapparellis Pizza , Stuart Leal Gallery and Switch Physio Lane Cove).
She is excited to be in Lane Cove, and when we were at the pharmacy, she was in the compounding room – not many pharmacies these days are compounding pharmacies.
She has taken over from Phil and Janet Wade, who celebrated 40 years as Lane Cove pharmacists on 24 March 2024.
Please pop in and say hi to Sorya. The whole burns bay shopping area on Burns Bay Road (we did have a huge discussion once now what it should be called) is a really good destination as it has an IGA, doctors surgery, a dentist, a physio, @northside speech pathology.
Gelatissimo Lane Cove has had a glow-up. Check out their new signage and the fresh touch of paint in the store. They’re all fresh and bright for spring and ready for (hopefully) consistently warmer days.
IGA Burns Bay Road
Meet Nawaz the new owner of IGA Lane Cove, located on Burns Bay Road (near Zapparellis Pizza, Stuart Leal Gallery and Switch Physio Lane Cove)
Nawaz has been in charge of the business for two weeks, and he told ITC that his mission is to increase the amount of fresh produce, and the Deli cabinet has been restocked.
He would love you to come in, say hi, and tell him what you want to see in IGA Lane Cove.
One of the benefits of shopping at IGA Lane Cove is that you can have a cuppa before you shop. They do have great New York-style sandwiches—ITC Fav is number 3.
Closed
Wok Passion on Longueville Road has closed. Lane Cove residents who like Malaysian Chinese cuisine will be disappointed.
Flight Centre Lane Cove Closed

Congratulations to Kimberly and the team from Bliss Hair Riverview for 25 years in Lane Cove. Kimberly posted the following on her Facebook page:
“Wow! What an incredible journey it has been!
When I first started Bliss Hair Lane Cove, I was in my early 20s and had no idea that 25 years later, I would still be here doing what I love. I’m so grateful! I not only love my salon, but I also love being a hairdresser now more than ever!
I’m so appreciative of all my beautiful clients, some of you I have known longer than 25 years when we met in Chatswood where I started my career. Your unwavering support means the world to me!
We have shared so many big moments together, a relationship between hairdresser and client is something to be treasured and I truly do! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I would also like to take the opportunity to THANK SUE who has had my back for nearly 20 years! Through thick and thin I’ve always felt so loved and supported by you! You are one in a million!!
Earlier this year we welcomed JADE to our Bliss family and we couldn’t have been more excited! WE adore you!
SIENNA our newest member who started last month, welcome to the Bliss family!”

Developments
Development 1A Epping Road Lane Cove North
Several readers have asked about the development at 1A Epping Road, where the old Sydney City Motorcycles business was located. The old building has been demolished, and a new one containing 70 serviced apartments will be constructed. The building is part 3-story and part 4-story above the existing ground level, and it will include 21 parking spaces, two accessible spaces, one motorcycle space, and six bicycle racks at the basement level. See our cover photo.
The Old Country Comfort Inn to Be Redeveloped Into a 43 Unit Apartment Building
The Sydney North Planning Panel (SNPP) approved a 43-unit development at 1 Gatacre Avenue and 5 Allison Avenue Lane Cove on October 4, 2024. The development will include two levels of basement parking and 85 parking spaces.
The Lane Cove Council and the Land and Environment Court have rejected previous apartment designs —read more here.
The SNPP noted:
“The panel concurs with Council that the proposal for dwellings within a high-density residential standard environment while providing appropriate designs, setbacks and landscaping to mitigate impacts to the adjoining R2 zone. The design responds to the challenging topographic restraints of the site, and the built form appropriately steps with the streetscape transition.”
