Lane Cove can expect a flurry of independent and innovative performances to hit their streets and venues as Council has announced a month-long partnership with Sydney Fringe.
The Sydney Fringe Festival is a multi-genre arts and performance festival which operates in multiple venues around Sydney in September. This year, the event has joined forces with the annual Lane Cove festival to utilise Lane Cove’s state-of-the-art performance spaces, including Pottery Lane Performance Space, The Canopy stage, Gallery Lane Cove, and Carisbrook Historic House.

The festivities will open curtains on 5 September 2025 and provide the opportunity for an array of local talent to take to the stage and strut their stuff for audiences expected to come from all across Sydney.
Some performances hosted in Lane Cove or performed by local talent will include:
- Judy Bailey’s Band: Iconic jazz pianist and Lane Cove local, Judy Bailey and her band performing as part of Lane Cove’s popular ‘At Your Request’ Concert – 12 September, Pottery Lane Cove Civic Centre.
- The Vagina Monologues: Acclaimed writer Eve Ensler has compiled a collection of diverse, candid, funny, heart-wrenching, and insightful stories about women and their experiences – September 11-14, Pottery Lane Performance Centre.
- Chasing The Rainbow: A Wicked and the work of Oz inspired show presented by Different Degrees, an ensemble of actors with and without disabilities – 10 September, Pottery Lane Performance Centre.
- Cockatoo Comics Workshop: Join local cartoonists to discuss the visual language of comics, and then use the information to create their own DIY art – 18 September, Cockatoo Comics.
- Grandpa Poseidon: An acclaimed comedy performance for kids about feeling a bit lost, and about finding your way again – Multiple dates through September, Sideshow at The Rocks – 37 George St Terrace and Pottery Lane Performance Space.
A major highlight will be Wright & Grainger at Pottery Lane Performance Space. The award-winning UK duo is known for their powerful fusion of storytelling, music, and immersive performances, retelling stories from Greek mythology as if they were happening today.

But it’s not just performances, there will also be an array of parties and interactive/immersive events. Lane Cove’s Carisbrook Historic House is hosting a Victorian Era cosplay party with even ‘Queen Victoria herself’ there for a photoshoot and champagne.
Lane Cove Council has stated that this opportunity aligns with their goal of maximising the suburb’s performance and cultural spaces by incorporating world-renowned programs from the Sydney Fringe Festival into the Lane Cove Festival, thereby supporting local talent and fostering a thriving arts scene.
“Lane Cove has always been a community that celebrates creativity and connection,” Lane Cove’s Mayor Sherri Southwood said.
“This partnership with Sydney Fringe Festival is an exciting opportunity to showcase our vibrant local talent, welcome new audiences, and transform our venues into hubs of energy and inspiration. I can’t wait to see Lane Cove come alive this September with colour, creativity, and joy.”

Come and visit The Canopy on opening night, Friday, 5 September 2025. The space will be transformed into a space of circus, music, theatre, dance, and comedy.
