ArtXtra! 2026 – Showcasing Local Artists

A selection of works from the 2026 ArtXtra exhibition

ArtXtra!, the Lane Cove Art Society members’ exhibition, opening night event and award presentation was held at Gallery Lane Cove + Creative Studios on Friday 27 March 2026.

The event saw around 100 art lovers and art makers gather to meet local artists and hear about their artwork, and even purchase pieces to take home once the exhibition ends.

The annual exhibition covers a variety of mediums including Painting, Printmaking and Drawing. This showcase of local talent is truly impressive and is well worth a visit! Request a catalogue here.

The Lloyd Rees Prize and Guy Warren Prize are given to the two best in the show pieces with the winning artist receiving $2000 for each award as well as being added to an honour board displayed in Lane Cove Library.

Guy Warren, a Lane Cove local who passed away in 2024, was often described as Australia’s oldest working artist. He was also an Archibald Prize winner and the subject of a prize-winning Archibald portrait.

Lane Cove Art Society

The Lane Cove Art Society is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers, aiming to encourage, recognise and reward artistic talent while providing a forum for people to share their interest in art.

The Lane Cove Art Society is a not-for-profit organisation, run by volunteers. Our aim is to encourage, recognise and reward artistic talent and to provide a forum for people to share their interest and knowledge in art.

The Lane Cove Art Society’s roots are prestigious. The Lane Cove Art Panel, established in 1962, consisted of four artists: Lloyd ReesGuy WarrenWilliam Pidgeon,and Reinis Zusters. All of these artists went on to achieve outstanding artistic success and widespread recognition.

The Lane Cove Art Society meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month (except January and December). The meetings open at 7 pm, and there is time to meet and talk before the meeting gets underway.

At each meeting, a well-known artist or guest speaker gives a demonstration or talk. Anyone interested in art is welcome to attend. The demonstration commences at about 7.30 pm and lasts up to 90 minutes.

Meetings are held at the LANE COVE SPORTING CLUB aka ‘THE DIDDY’. Corner Kenneth Street and River Road, Longueville

The Lane Cove Art Society also holds two exhibitions yearly as well as workshops, visits to galleries or artists’ studios, and mini-exhibitions for members.
