Harbourcare Kayak x World Turtle Day

In May we celebrate World Turtle Day, and what better way to mark this special event than a kayak cleanup to protect these beautiful creatures?
Did you know that Sydney Harbour is home to 3 species of sea turtles: the Green, Loggerhead and Leatherback turtle? Sadly, sea turtles and other marine creatures ingest plastic pollution, eventually leading to death.
Join the fight in preserving these magnificent creatures by joining Lane Cove Council’s Harbourcare team for a kayak around Woodford Bay, collecting marine litter along the bay foreshore as we explore and protect this beautiful marine ecosystem.
Due to COVID-19, tickets are only available to fully-vaccinated* individuals. There is a preference to book in pairs from the same household, as you will be sharing double kayaks.
Double kayaks supplied (sport/touring design), medium level fitness required, a little kayaking experience preferred but not necessary.
Minimum age 11 years old. Under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.
Bags, gloves and litter pickers provided.
Must wear enclosed shoes to attend. Wear sun-smart, light clothing that can get wet.
BYO water. COVID-safe & low waste snack & drink provided.
No corporate bookings allowed; Max. 2 tickets per group.
Please note: Refunds only available up to 7 days prior to event. Please let us know at your earliest convenience if you are no longer able to attend so that we can open tickets to the waitlist.
* Fully-vaccinated means you have had at least two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccination, with a preference for boosters.
To ensure this is a COVID-safe activity, numbers are strictly limited. We will also be physically distancing on site and hand sanitiser will be provided. All equipment is disinfected before and after use. Please do not attend on the day if you are feeling unwell or have any cold/flu symptoms. Singles booking one ticket may prefer to wear a mask, as you will be sharing a double kayak with another individual.
Location: the kayak trip will take place along the Lane Cove foreshore, departing from Longueville.
