We at the Lane Cove Shinbukan, Japanese Martial Arts Academy are putting on a Karate and Ninjutsu (Japanese Ninja) tournament and we would love to invite anyone who’s interested in coming along to watch. Admission is free.

Order of events;
You will get to watch traditional Go Ju Ryu Kata competition, (forms and Patterns) Kata are used in Karate to develop skill and discipline. Go Ju Ryo is one of the original Okinawan Karate styles. Okinawa is considered the birth place of Karate. You’ll get to watch Karate Points sparring. Point’s sparring is a modern form of karate it is used to develop striking ability and accuracy. Unlike continuous sparring which we also practice, point’s sparring is a test of speed, accuracy and technical ability.
Later in the day you will get to watch our local Lane Cove Iga Ryu Ninjas do there best to best each other. Ninjutsu is the art of the patient fighter. It is the pinnacle Japanese Martial art and includes, Karate, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, acrobatics, Iado (Japanese Sword Fighting) as well as self defense and evasion techniques. Steeped in tradition we will be show casing our fighting style in our Kumite (Sparring/fighting) tournament. Throughout the tournament our Ninjas will bring together karate style stand up fighting, combined with judo style throwing techniques as well as Jiu Jitsu grappling.
