According to the Urban Dictionary Quirky means “something that is strange/not normal but cool’. Lane Cove has some very quirky features and ITC thought we would share some with you.
Quirky Garden Features
Austin Street seems to love some quirky garden features. At one end of the street is the knight in shining armour and at the other end of the street is installation art.
Quirky Art
StoneBirdie is an artist who secretly leaves hand painted stones around Lane Cove. They are all numbered and once they are placed secret clues are sometimes left on Instagram.
The Lane Cove Council has also contributed to the quirky art with their painted table tennis table at Blackman Park and the painted traffic signal boxes. Some of the boxes very clearly have a Lane Cove subject matter, others do not.
Yarn Bombing has started popping up around Lane Cove. Yarn Bombing is “a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk”. The main knitter in the Cove appears to be Paint the Town Yarn
