It’s that time of the year when nannies and babysitters are in high demand. Finding a nanny or a babysitter can be difficult, whether it’s for after-school pick up, or weekend and evening outings. A former Lane Cove resident Elspeth Price has come up with a solution after seeing a gap in the market.
Elspeth was at one stage nannying every day and when she had to move on to begin a different career, she kept meeting families who were desperate for her to recommend another nanny. Elspeth realised there was not a mobile app on the market that could connect local nannies/babysitters with families. She also wanted to develop a system where it could be used once or every week and families would not have to pay a large joining fee.
Elspeth developed an app called NannyCure. When you use NannyCure there is no membership fees, no sign-up fees, no app cost. It’s just a convenient facilitation and meeting platform!
NannyCure is a secure platform for parents to search for and conveniently book a babysitter, be it repeat or one-off bookings. Members of NannyCure will gradually build-up a network of connections, which will help them to find babysitters quickly. Carers create a profile detailing their experience, skills, strengths, personality, availability, and location, and then activate their profile in order to be listed
Parents can search using location-based search or filter by age, gender, suburb, price. Carers supply their phone number and email address to be contacted by families who search them and are interested.
An hourly rate is set and listed by each carer. Once payment is made, via the app, both parties are taken to a page to provide a star-rating and feedback. The more repeat sessions and ratings, the more desirable a profile is to future searches and matches. Paying via the app is pretty neat. How many times have you withdrawn money for the baby sitter only to use the money buying food or drink?
