Lane Cove Council Elections – Will you be Nominating?

Elections for Lane Cove Councillors will be held on Saturday 9 September 2017.

Nominations Close 9 August 2017

If you’ve ever wanted to be a local government councillor, now is the time to get involved. It is not easy to run for council if you are not part of an organised political group. Independents will need to have representatives at numerous polling booths (more than usual for a local government election).

If you are still keen on being the voice of the people you must submit your nomination by 12pm on 9 August 2017.

Voting is Compulsory

You must vote in the Lane Cove Council elections and there is no absentee vote option. This catches many people out. So if you are going away remember to pre-poll vote or arrange for a postal vote. Pre poll voting will be available at Lane Cove Civic Centre (Cove Room) between 8.30am–5pm, Monday to Friday, from 28 August – 7 September, and open until 6pm on Friday 8 September 2017.

The poll in relation to amalgamation is important, however, the exact wording has not been released.

31 July 2017	Close of Roll (6.00pm) Nominations open

28 August 2017	Pre-poll voting commences
1 September 20217	Registration of Electoral Material i.e. how-to-vote closes (5.00pm) Close of registration for third party campaigners
4 September 2017	Postal Vote Applications close (5.00pm) Declared Institution Voting commences (8.00am)
8 September 2017	Pre-poll voting closes (6.00pm) Declared Institution Voting closes (6.00pm)
9 September 2017	Election Day (Polling places open 8.00am to 6.00pm)
11 September 2017	Return of Postal Votes close (6.00pm)

• St Andrews Uniting Church Hall – Longueville
• St Ignatius Junior School
• Lane Cove West Public School

East Ward

• Greenwich Community Centre
• Greenwich Public School
• Lane Cove Public School
• Lane Cove Civic Centre
• St Andrews Uniting Church Hall – Longueville

West Ward

• Meeting House (Stokes Street)
• Lane Cove West Public School
• Lane Cove Civic Centre
• Lane Cove Public School
• Lane Cove Bowling Club
• Mowbray Road Public School

No matter who you vote for, vote early (but not often as that is a criminal offence).
