New Bus Timetables Starts Tomorrow (Mon 27 Nov)

We know that this is not strictly a week in review happening, but we wanted to make sure that all Lane Cove Commuters are aware that new bus timetables start tomorrow. ITC will be at the Lane Cove Interchange tomorrow checking out the changes. You can read about the different route changes here.

Chaos in Lane Cove Market Square Car Park

On Thursday 23rd November some cars were stuck in the Lane Cove Market Square Car Park for up to an hour as the boomgate was not operating. When ITC contacted the Lane Cove Council to ask them to investigate, they advised that they were aware of an issue relating to entering the car park, but did not know there was an exit issue. The Lane Cove Council has advised that they will have a Ranger at the Car Park at peak periods all next week.

Fire on Burns Bay Road

One of our Roving Reporter snapped this picture of emergency services attending to a kitchen fire on Burns Bay Road near Graham Street. No report of injuries.

Generous Lane Cove

Well done Lane Cove!! This weekend In the Cove put a call out for used Adult bikes to be donated to Bicycles for Change an organisation that sends bikes to Africa. In total 38 bikes were donated and many of them were from Lane Cove residents.

Shop Local This Christmas

It’s that time of the year when ITC asks you to Shop Local and support our local retailers. We have some great local suggestions in our Lane Cove Christmas 2017 Gift Guides. Last year many of you told us that you did try and shop local and it was, in fact, easier than you thought. At the moment our retailers are suffering – their takings are down by up to 30%. If this decline continues local jobs will be lost and when you ask your local retailer to donate a prize for you school, kindy or community group they may not be able to donate. So let’s all shop local together!!!! #shoplocal A vibrant Lane Cove is a great Lane Cove.

Volunteering Opportunities

The mighty Lane Cove Rugby club needs some volunteers. Have you hung up the boots but still want to be involved in Rugby? Do you miss the smell of Dencorub, freshly mowed grass, chalk and of course the post match celebrations? If so, this might be a great volunteering role for you.

The New Bondi Vet has a Lane Cove Link

The new Bondi Vet got his love for animals by following around his dad at Figtree Veterinary Clinic when he was little.  You can read more here.

Yarn Bombing Continues

Our cover photo shows the new installations by our very own Lane Cove Yarn Bomber – Cee Egan. You can read all about Cee here.

La Piazza

La Piazza is scheduled to reopen on 29 November 2017.

Refuse Breath Analysis – Lane Cove North

Around 2:20am Tuesday 21st November police responded to calls of a vehicle being driven in a suspicious manner along Parklands Avenue, Lane Cove North.

Upon arrival at the location police observed a silver Mercedes stopped facing the kerb, police approached the vehicle where they found a 33 year old Lane Cove North man sitting in the driver’s seat who smelt strongly of intoxicating liquor. Police submitted the driver to a breath test which returned a very high reading, as a result he was arrested and taken to Chatswood Police Station.

At the police station the male was given numerous opportunities to provide a sample of his breath for the purpose of a breath analysis, however refused to comply with police directions on each of these occasions. As a result the male was charged with refuse or fail to submit to breath analysis. His licence was suspended immediately and he will face Hornsby Local Court in January in relation to the charges.
