Husband Hunting on the North Shore – True Love Finally Found in Lane Cove

Fidan Shevket has released her debut novel – Husband Hunting with ConFIDANce.

The book documents how Fidan shamelessly embarked on a hunt for the love of her life, testing her patience, determination, and belief that she could achieve anything she set her mind to. This true story takes you on an extraordinary adventure chronicling a two-year love quest with an unexpected result.

Eight years ago, Fidan finally found her ideal man living in Lane Cove.

The book is self-published and is an AMAZON best seller in 3 categories, and it was only published in October 2023. This is a fantastic achievement, given that self-publishers rarely have money to spend printing, storing, advertising and marketing their own book.

Fidan has single-handedly sold almost 6000 paperbacks from her website and over 2000 eBooks on Amazon in only a few months.

We asked Fidan about her debut book and her Lane Cove connection.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?

It started as a blog ten years ago and is now a heartwarming, quirky, captivating novel.

The book is my dating blog converted into a novel documenting my hunt to find a life partner from 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2013. It takes place when I was between the ages of 32 to 34.

I have always considered myself a ‘high achiever.’ I believe that I can achieve anything I set my mind to as long as I stay focused and motivated.

By the age of 32, I was fed up with the single life and knew that if I wanted to find a husband and settle down, I needed to make that a goal.

So, I set up a blog to keep me accountable and motivated with a giant clock counting down two years. The Hunt was on! I had two years to find my dream man. I knew I could do it. I have never failed at anything, and this would be no different, or so I thought…

The journey was epic, and it was all documented in real time.

After the 2-year blog project, I saved the text on my work desktop as I knew I would return and turn it into a book one day.

Fast forward 12 years, and I now have a loving partner of 8 years and 4.5-year-old twins. I did get my happy ending, so it was time to convert that dating blog into a book and share my story! I had grown a social media following of 200,000+ and knew I had an audience interested in reading and purchasing a book.

My story will reaffirm your faith in love, have you laughing at the unpredictable path of fate and leave you with a newfound skill of confidence.

How Did You Find Your Lane Cove Love of Your Life?

I met him on the internet dating website RSVP. We are not married; we are de facto, but I consider him my “husband” for all intents and purposes. The book has an Epilogue that reveals what happened after the blog ended and how we met.

Did You Enjoy Some Lane Cove Dates?

When we started dating, we just hung out at his place in Lane Cove or my place in Neutral Bay. Sometimes, we went to Lane Cove Coles to get supplies to cook dinners. I loved grabbing a cheese and bacon roll, hot chocolate for him (a non-coffee drinker!), and a coffee for me on the way to his place.

My partner had been renting in Lane Cove for 15 years, and when we purchased a house together, he was really sad to leave Lane Cove. His best mate lives in Lane Cove, and we visit him often.

How Difficult Was It To Write the Book and Get it Published?

Writing the book part was easy because I blogged it in real-time, so the 160,000-word file already existed.

Editing the book, however, was very difficult. I decided to outsource it, and I paid a company to do the edit for me because I didn’t have the time to edit a 667-page novel with my busy career (did I mention I am a partner in a law firm, divorce lawyer and mother to 2 kids under the age of 5?).

I trusted the editors to proofread thoroughly; now that I have read the book’s final draft, I think it could use another edit, but I don’t sweat the small stuff.

You Have a Very Active TikTok Account – How Did You Go About Growing it?

TikTok is a fun platform to engage with strangers. I find it easy to use, and I have slowly built a following over the last 18 months with my content around law, cooking, being a twin mum and my book.

The demographic is wide from law students to men and women dating later in life. Internet dating is how most people meet partners these days, so my story remains relevant all these years later.

I was recently interviewed on national morning television Sunrise about my book and being a “TikTok Star.”

ITC Note:  A friend of mine kept telling me I should follow this divorce lawyer on TikTok as she was hilarious, and she created ‘Saturday Platterday’ (because we DON’T COOK ON A SATURDAY).  – I now realise she was talking about Fidan.

Another ITC friend mentioned she started following Fidan when she was going through a divorce, and she loved the way Fidan explains complex legal problems easily and humorously. (so click this link and follow her now).

You’re a Divorce Lawyer and a Mother of Twins – Sounds Like Heaps of Material For a Second Novel

There is demand for another book! I have the content – the early years of dating my partner, settling down, IVF journey, having my twins at 40 (born premmie at 26 weeks) and parenting in your 40s. I am not sure I have the time to write another book, but maybe….
