Lane Cove Doctors Medical Centre

There is a new Bulk Billing Family Medical Centre in town – Lane Cove Doctors Medical Centre. It is open 7 days a week. Located on Longueville Road, in the store that used to house Shoe Superstore.

Disc Exodus

Just launched at the end of October, Disc Exodus is a small business started by Lane Cove locals. They can convert all of your CD’s to various digital formats.

Disc Exodus take the pain out of converting and backing up your CD collection to your computer or media server. We want to help you rediscover your music collection!

Bella Bacio Cafe

Lane Cove’s newest cafe, Bella Bacio, is now open under the Savanna Apartments on Centennial Avenue, near Mowbray Road.

L’valle Hair Salon

A new hairdresser will open in the Rosenthal Arcade, at 83 Longueville Road.

At L’Valle, we believe that the hairs integrity is the most important thing when doing any hair service. Included in all our hair services we use a combination of Pure Essential oils and a styling Range- Qaba, that has 100% no sulphate and 100% no silicon which is made right here in Australia- Melbourne.

Sydney Oyster Girls

How’s this for a fab idea. a Greenwich local, Maria, contacted us about her unique business. She is the owner of Sydney Oyster Girls.

I’ve imported specially designed oyster belts from Europe which allow my staff to roam parties with a bucket of freshly closed oysters around their waist. They open the oysters on the spot then continue to serve it nicely on a serviette with a fork and dress it with a condiment of the guest’s choice before handing if over for the guests to enjoy. It’s a new catering concept here in Australia and currently we’re the only ones doing it here in Sydney.

Two Are One

Two are One are a creative team of  a photographer (Amanda) and a designer (Kara) that love to capture your special story.  They have both worked in the publishing,design and advertising industries for 20 years or so.

New Ownership/Re-opened

Lane Cove Poolmart

Goodbye to Richard & Christine Diaz, the owners of Lane Cove Poolmart (since 1978) who are moving on. The new owner is David Cameron (we don’t think he is the ex British PM but we will go to Poolmart to check it out).

One of our roving reporters told us: “They’ve done an amazing job of looking after our pool for many years. I’m sure there are lots of locals who would like to wish them the very best.”

Yogabowl

Yogabowl is so excited to announce they have moved from the Longueville Sporting Club … literally next door to a fresh, new dedicated space upstairs in the Lane Cove Tennis Clubhouse.

We noticed that the small medical centre on Longueville Road, located south of Lane Cove Public School, has rebranded.

Closing or Closed

Buby Bling

The kids clothing, accessories and homewares shop, Buby Bling is closing/closed. It was located in the Lane Cove Arcade.  We did hear a rumour that it was going to be a formal hire business but have yet to have that confirmed.

Retired

David R Todd a local lane cove solicitor has retired.  We wish him the best of luck.  You may have seen David walking around Lane Cove with his trusty dog.  David was spotted last year at the Food and Wine Festival by the River.

Rumours

A couple of months ago we mentioned that the team from the Grounds of Alexandria were looking to open another ‘Grounds’ close to Lane Cove, in Artarmon. It looks like they have dropped the idea for now… but we’re still holding hope that Kevin Bacon’s pals may set up shop in the vicinity down the track.

In the Cove’s Facebook site turned 4 in October. Who would have thought that a FB site set up for some friends would now have over 7 500 Facebook followers? Thank you Lane Cove for embracing In the Cove.  Thank you also to Sue Manning, In the Cove’s Website Administrator for all her hard work.

Pureflowers

Congratulations to Pureflowers who are celebrating 5 years as owners of Lane Cove’s longest operating florist. Lud and Ellen took over Ellen’s florist 5 years ago, however the florist shop has been operating in Lane Cove for over 20 years.

To celebrate this milestone event, Pureflowers is giving away a candle a week for November.  All you have to do is Email us and in 25 words or less tell us your favourite flower and why. Make sure you include your name and address and telephone number. This is a game of skill and not chance. Comp closes 30 November 2016 and there will be a winner drawn each week. You can only enter once.

Furever Pets

Congratulations to Furever Pets, who are celebrating 5 years of being part of our great Lane Cove community. In that time they have found new homes for over 370 lost or abandoned pets, that found themselves in need of a second chance. Furever Pets are located in the Village Shopping Centre, across from Coles.
