Lane Cove Week in Review 26th March to 1st April 2018

As you can see from our cover photo it’s Easter Time.  One of the longest-running Lane Cove traditions is the Lane Cove Public School Easter Hat parade in the Lane Cove Plaza.  It is always preceded by Lane Cove mums ransacking Hot Dollar. Long may the tradition last.

Lane Cove was named in the top 10 most advantaged places to live in Australia.  You can read more here.

Dog Rescued From Lane Cove Roof

Our local firefighters were called into rescue a dog who was stranded on a Lane Cove Roof.  Lara the German Shepherd had just returned back to her home after surgery and became disorientated. The dog ventured into the bathroom of the brick house in Lane Cove and wandered out the window.

Centennial Avenue Clearways

Yet again another accident this week at Longueville/River Road West and Kenneth. Black spot funding has been applied for – you can read about it here.

Women’s Rugby

This week the Australian Women’s 7’s Rugby team trained at Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview. They are preparing for the Commonwealth Games.

Parts of Lane Cove North lost cable connection for two days this week.

Crime Report

Sometime between 10:30 am and 1:15 pm Friday 23rd March unknown offender/s have gained entry to a home on Dorrit Street, Lane Cove.The offender/s appear to have used a crowbar or similar tool to force open the locked front door of the home. Upon gaining entry they have upended furniture and property belonging to the residents in each room of the house. The offenders have stolen from the home a large antique safe that contained more than $50,000 worth of jewellery. Police are asking for anyone that may have noticed any suspicious activity at the stated location during the given times and dates to please contact Chatswood Police on 9414 8499 or Crime Stoppers (1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au).
