Lane Cove Week in Review 30th September to 6th October 2018

Lane Cove Village was very quiet this week due to a long weekend, school holidays and rain.

    Mowbray Road Blackspot

Three accidents on the same corner of Mowbray Road in Twelve Hours.  The accidents are near 438 Mowbray Road. Something has to be done.  One side of the road is Lane Cove Council and the other is Willoughby Council.  The councils need to work together to fix up this corner.

The Lane Cove Council finally completed roadworks on the corner of Bridge Street and River Road West and there have been no reported accidents during this rainy weather.

    Business Changes

Hudsons Lane Cove has closed down.  They advised customers that the store was not profitable.

A Beauty Lane Cove is currently closed for renovations. The whole shop has been gutted.

    Development in Lane Cove

Is more construction on the horizon for Lane Cove?   According to Matthew Harris, the NSW managing director of RLB, Lane Cove will experience more construction and our skyline will change.  If you are concerned about development in Lane Cove come along to the Lane Cove Planning Alliance forum on 30 October 2018.  Hear what The Hon. Anthony Roberts, MP for Lane Cove and NSW Minister for Planning (attendance to be confirmed),
Councillor Pam Palmer, Lane Cove Mayor, Councillor Andrew Zbik, Labour Candidate in the 2019 election and The Greens NSW spokesman for planning, Mr David Shoebridge have to say and ask your questions. Read more here.  The big question is – will Mr Roberts attend the event?

    Police Incidents

Police arresting a peeping tom in Riverview this week.  Read more here.

This week a body was discovered at Buffalo Creek Reserve at Hunters Hill. This playground is very popular with Lane Cove families.  Read more here.

At 11.30pm on Saturday night police were called to a domestic incident in Lane Cove West following reports a 48-year-old man had been stabbed in the arm. It’s believed the man was involved in an argument with someone who had left the home before police arrived.

A property was broken into near St Michaels Primary School this week.  Nothing was stolen as the police believe the burglar alarm distracted the thieves.

    Must Do Upcoming Event

Next week is the very popular Lane Cove Rotary Fair and Sustainability Lane.  It is on 14th October from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.  Rides, stalls, community group, food and entertainment.  Come along and have a great day.  Shuttle buses are available to take you to the fair.  ITC will have a stall there and we would love you to come and say hi.
