HSC is a stressful time for students and parents.  There are plenty of local services and information that will help ease the stress in Lane Cove.

Students will ill less stressed if they  organised – and it is okay to ask for help.

Understanding and Managing Exam Stress Workshop

Lane Cove Library

The Lane Cove Library is holding a series of free workshops in September to help students prepare for the 2019 Higher School Certificate.

HSC Study Skills and Exam Preparation – 4 September 2019 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

This free workshop provides practical tips to help students organise information, and covers strategies for turning their class notes into easily consumable study notes. It’s all about studying smarter not harder.

Students learn techniques to help revise for exams and structure their study blocks.

Andrew Marselos, the founder of Think Tuition will present this workshop. Andrew focuses on a wholistic experience encompassing academic wellbeing and transitional support.  Booking Details here.

Managing HSC Stress and Exam Taking Techniques – 11 September 2019 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Many students feel overwhelmed in the lead up to exams. This free workshop discusses the role of mindset and positive self-talk as a mediator for perfectionism, stress, anxiety and academic procrastination, and examines how to read, interpret and respond to exam questions.

Cramfest

5 days of supervised study sessions for HSCers. 6-7 hours of study per day but sleep in your own bed! Cramfest is held from 30 September to 4th October 2019.

Price includes all food (Breakfast through to dinner and snacks), welcome pack and some subject assistance.

Organised study sessions, breaks for food and relaxation, time to discuss the reality of Jesus in the world today and make new friends.

All year 12 students welcome, limited places.

Learning With Confidence is all about connecting the right tutor for your HSC child.   Their intensive, individualised approach helps their tutors to get the best out of every student. SYDNEY HOMEWORK COLLECTIVE GROUP

The Homework Collective is an initiative to get homework out of the nag and drag and into a positive and productive space!

We use homework as a tool to teach:
  • how to prioritise tasks
  • learn to problem solve so they learn how to tackle tasks (not give up!)
  • demonstrate how to understand questions and break them down (math included!)
  • work on brainstorming, mind maps, scaffolds and chunking tasks
  • teach deadlines, time management and planning alongside school tasks
  • model diary use, reminders and structure for homework
  • make it fun and easy to work alongside us and other kids

We have designed this with your child in mind. To bring back skills that help homework BUT more than that our philosophy is to teach them to have a growth mindset so that they may gain  life skills at the same time that will mean more than homework.

This is a great opportunity to let you be the parent and let us be that coach for homework.

Book in a time slot that suits to get started. For the 10 weeks of term you can choose weekly times on:

Mondays: 3pm-6pm Homework Collective (mix of k-3; yr 4- 6) + high school any time after 4:30.

Tuesdays 3pm-5:45pm – Tutor for Primary & High school  (INDIVIDUAL + group)

Thursdays : 3pm  – 5:45 Homework Collective (mix of k-3; yr 4- 6) + high school any time after 4:30.

Primary school sessions $45 (60-75 – Weekly for the term)

High school sessions $69 (group) (75 min – Weekly for the term)

Individual Tutoring $95/hr (Upper Primary & High school) Mon/Tue only

Max 4 people with a specialist – 6 with specialist and tutor.

We have a upper primary & high school subject specific expert who is with us Monday and Tuesdays with speciality in science and maths.

If the times above don’t suit feel free to give us a call to let us know. We are happy to provide morning groups as well (8:00-8:45) for those that want that option.

Yoga for Teens

The ideal Yoga class for stressed-out High School aged students in Lane Cove.

The physical aspects of Teens Yoga will stretch, strengthen and tone your body – which complements the sport you play by increasing focus and preventing injury AND is ideal for desk-sitters and slouchers.

Aside from the physical benefits, teenagers learn skills for coping with the unique issues they’re faced with every day: exams & expectations, stressful schedules & situations, friendships and relationships, and the enormous pressure to fit in.

Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra For Stress Release (90 Mins) Fridays 6.30-8pm

Join our teacher Lauren for an evening of slow Yin Yoga postures to release tight tension in muscles and fascia causing pain and other physical alignments including insomnia, digestion issues and headaches. Once we release the tension, circulation improves and new blood is sent to areas needing healing.

Yoga Nidra is a proven relaxation method to get you out of your mind and into your body causing a massive sense of calm, balance and restoration. Join us for this unwinding class to help you enjoy your weekend after a busy week.
