Want to know what is happening in Lane Cove on ANZAC Day? Here are the answers to some of the frequently asked questions about ANZAC Day in Lane Cove and a guide to activities after the ceremony and trading hours for our local cafes/restaurants and supermarkets.
Lane Cove ANZAC Day Ceremony
Is there a Dawn Service in Lane Cove?
No – We are always asked why there is no dawn service in Lane Cove. A previous RSL Sub Branch president told us local veterans like to attend the Dawn Service at the Cenotaph in the CBD and then return to Lane Cove for their local service.
Is there an ANZAC Day Ceremony in Lane Cove? If so, where and what time?
The ANZAC Day ceremony is on Thursday, 25 April 2024, at The Canopy at 7.25 am.
Please arrive at 7:15 am for a 7:25 am start.
The Lane Cove RSL Sub Branch asks that anyone who intends on marching at the Ceremony please form up on the South Side of the Canopy toilets, ready to step off at 7:25 am.
Where can I park?
You can park at The Canopy, Little Street Car Park, Harris Farm Car Park and Lane Cove Market Square Car park. Lane Cove Council are encouraging people to walk as there is great demand for parking due to the number of people who attend the ceremony. Despite numerous requests from Lane Cove Council, the Lane Cove Market Square carpark lifts can be an issue. Woolworths is not open until 1.00 pm, which means access via the travellators is cut off, and the lifts are not always programmed correctly. They should be programmed to skip the Woolworths level and stop at the ground floor, but sometimes access to all levels is restricted. If this is the case, you need to walk towards the Harris Farm building and take the stairs near BWS up to Burns Bay Road.
Who organises the ANZAC Day event?
The Lane Cove RSL Sub-Branch and the Lane Cove Council put a great deal of effort into the ceremony, so please come along and remember Lane Cove locals who served to protect our country.
Will Poppies be Sold?
Lane Cove Rotary will be selling handmade crocheted Poppies.

Will Rosemary be available?
The Lane Cove Council also hands out Rosemary and Orders of Service.
Rosemary is a traditional ANZAC Day emblem of remembrance. A sprig of rosemary is pinned to a coat lapel or held in place by medals. Rosemary has particular significance as it grows wild on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
